Marc Ambinder reports on suspicions that Palin is gunning for 2012 — and possibly even sabotaging McCain’s prospects. “She will easily benefit from the low expectations threshhold” and will have plenty of time to make over her mastery of domestic and international policy (there’s some stuff you can’t buy at Neiman Marcus). Hell, maybe she’ll write a book: Would the Real America Please Stand Up?
Ambinder’s speculation on her campaign’s financial backers piqued my interest:
Palin will be the most well-financed candidate aside from Mitt Romney. She will raise gobs of money from old energy interests (who will be running scared against Obama’s green energy initiatives), and will in turn raise gobs of money from small donors online.
Her new outfits make sense. Big Oil’s sweetheart wears windfall profits on her sleeve.
